Acylation

Acylation is a vital process in organic synthesis, wherein an electrophilic reaction substitutes a functional group onto an aromatic ring. This transformation entails the incorporation of acylating agents – such as acyl chlorides, anhydrides, acids, and esters – under the catalytic influence of a Lewis acid to form a new bond with the aromatic system.
