Anhydrides

Anhydrides can be either inorganic or organic compounds. A distinguishing characteristic of anhydrides is their tendency to react with water, resulting in the production of acids or bases.
This reaction typically involves the release of hydrogen ions (H+) and/or hydroxide ions (OH-), which can lead to the formation of a new acid-base compound.
