Formylation

Formylation is a chemical reaction that involves the attachment of a formyl group (-CHO) to a molecule. This process is widely employed in organic chemistry for the synthesis of aldehydes and the functional modification of other organic compounds. In biochemistry, formylation can also refer to the covalent attachment of a formyl group to proteins or other biomolecules, often catalysed by enzymes.
