Saturated

The term “saturated” in chemistry carries a dual meaning, frequently used to describe different phenomena. Primarily, ‘saturated’ refers to a solution that has reached its maximum capacity for dissolving a particular solute at a specific temperature and pressure. At this point, no further addition of solute will occur without altering these conditions. Secondly, within organic chemistry, “saturated” particularly describes hydrocarbons – molecules composed solely of carbon and hydrogen – characterized by having only single bonds between the carbon atoms. This structural feature gives these compounds their stability and distinctive properties.
