Exothermic reaction

When an exothermic reaction occurs, it involves a chemical process where energy is liberated into its environment in the form of thermal radiation or heat. As a result, the products formed during the reaction possess less kinetic energy than their reactants, leading to a transfer of excess energy to the surroundings.
