Xenoproteomics

Xeno proteomic, a growing field in chemistry, focuses on the study of proteins that are introduced into a living organism from external sources, such as pharmaceuticals or toxins. These ‘xenoproteins’ – foreign proteins – interact with the host organism’s native proteins, triggering a range of responses. The goal of xeno proteomic research is to meticulously examine these interactions and understand how these foreign proteins influence cellular processes, potentially contributing to disease development or – conversely – informing novel therapeutic strategies. Researchers utilize advanced techniques to identify and characterize these interactions, providing valuable insights into the complex interplay between foreign and native proteins within a biological system.
