Free Radical

Radicals are highly reactive entities characterized by an unpaired electron, rendering them unstable and prone to react with surrounding molecules. This lone electron creates an intense chemical drive, prompting the radical to seek out and combine with other molecules in order to stabilize itself. The resulting interactions can be detrimental to cellular integrity and molecular balance. Free radicals are generated naturally within the body as part of normal metabolic processes, while external sources such as environmental pollutants and ionizing radiation can also introduce them into the system.
