Carboxylic acid derivatives

Carboxylic acid derivatives are compounds that arise from the replacement of the hydroxyl group (-OH) in a carboxylic acid with other functional groups. As a result, these derivatives also bear an acyl group (RCO-), which is typically attached to a substituent capable of serving as a leaving group in nucleophilic acyl substitution reactions.
