Carbamates

Carbamates are a class of compounds characterized by the general formula R2NC(O)OR and structure >N−C(=O)−O−. They are derived from carbamic acid (NH2COOH) through formal substitution or replacement of hydrogen atoms with other organic functional groups. This process can result in both organic compounds, such as ethyl carbamate, and salts containing the carbamate anion H2NCOO−, including ammonium carbamate.
