Carboxamides

Carboxamides are a distinct class of chemical compounds that feature a carbonyl group (C=O) linked to a nitrogen atom (N), yielding the characteristic functional group R-CO-NH2. This versatile moiety is also a subset of amides, with another name commonly used being amino carbonyls.
With their diverse applications in mind, carboxamides can be found in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, where they play a crucial role in developing novel medications; fungicides, as part of pesticide formulations; and proteins, where they serve as functional groups with specific biological properties. This widespread presence highlights the significance of understanding and manipulating these compounds in chemical synthesis and applications.
