Product categorization
Description
5-Methyl-1-hexanol is a branched-chain aliphatic primary alcohol where the primary alcohol functional group is a hydroxyl (-OH) group on an aliphatic carbon. This compound combines the properties of a long-chain alcohol with moderate branching, which influences both its physical characteristics and reactivity. The presence of the hydroxyl group allows it to participate in common alcohol reactions such as esterification, oxidation, and ether formation, while the branched structure imparts lower melting and boiling points compared to its straight-chain analogs.
To accommodate a wide range of applications, we offer 5-Methyl-1-hexanol in quantities from milligrams for small-scale research through to multi-kilogram production batches. This flexibility allows you to select the ideal volume for your research, pilot-scale development, or full-scale manufacturing needs.
