Description
4,4-Dimethyl-1-pentene [762-62-9] is a branched-chain aliphatic olefin (alkene) with the molecular formula C₇H₁₄. It features a five-carbon linear chain (pentene) with a terminal double bond between carbons 1 and 2 and two methyl groups attached to carbon 4. This structural branching results in a total of seven carbon atoms.
The presence of the terminal alkene (C=C) makes it reactive in a variety of organic reactions, including polymerization, hydroboration-oxidation, halogenation, and electrophilic addition.
The 4,4-dimethyl substitution influences both steric hindrance and the chemical behaviour of the molecule, particularly in regioselective reactions.
We are proud to offer a high-quality 4,4-Dimethyl-1-pentene available in a range of sizes-from milligram quantities for research to multi-kilogram batches for pilot-scale or production use-providing the flexibility to meet your specific requirements.
