The solvent plays a critical role, being the component of a solution that is present in the greatest quantity. Crucially, a solvent\u2019s ability to dissolve a particular solute is influenced by factors like polarity and intermolecular forces. While liquids are the most prevalent form of solvents, solvents can also exist in solid or gaseous states.
